The CDS Driver Improvement Program is approved by the State of New Hampshire- Department of Safety for 3-point reduction on your Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).  In NH; you are entitled to one 3-point reduction in a 3 year period.  This program is state specific to help modify driving behavior to become a safer driver.  Safe driving begins with a safe atitude and a desire to comply with all of New Hampshire’s Road Safety Laws and Regulations.

When an individual drives unsafe; the result can be not only be monetary-you can lose your driving priveledges in N.H., known as an ADMINISTRATIVE  SUSPENSION.  Driving in N.H. is a priveledge, not a right.  Demerit Points on your MVR can be assessed as shown below:  Demerit points can be 1,2,3,4 or 6 points.

Drivers under the age of 18

  •   6  points in one calendar year: up to three months suspension.
  • 12 points in two consecutive years: up to six months suspension.
  • 18 points in three consecutive calendar years: up to one year suspension.

Drivers 18, 19, 20

  •   9  points in one calendar year: up to three months suspension.
  • 15 points in two consecutive calendar years: up to six months suspension.
  • 21 points in three consecutive calendar years: up to one year suspension.

Drivers age 21 and older

  • 12 points in one calendar year: up to three months suspension.
  • 18 points in two consecutive calendar years: up to six months suspension.

Upon satisfying your Administrative Suspension; you will need to make an application to the Financial Responsibility Department and request the 3-points be removed from your MVR and send the DIP Completion Certificate in to the address below.   This is your responsibility, not the DIP provider.
